Chiropractic First visit
Examination
Your first visit will start with a conversation with Dr. Munro. The goal of this conversation is to discover what brings you in to the practice, provide an understanding of your health history and find out what your goals are moving forward. After this conversation Dr. Munro will guide you through a physical examination based on the conversation you just had. During the physical exam you can expect to be taken through a variety of posture and range of motion testing to uncover the source of the dysfunction.
Explanation
After the examination Dr. Munro will explain what is going on in your body to cause the dysfunction or limitation, and how he proposes to help you. The goal of this portion of the visit is to ensure you have a complete understanding of what is happening and the process moving forward. Questions are always welcome throughout the visit.
Treatment
When you feel comfortable that you understand and agree with the treating process Dr. Munro will start your customized treatment plan to get you back doing the things you love.
Ongoing Chiropractic visits
Ongoing care is recommended to keep you performing at your peak. Visits will be more frequent when addressing a certain dysfunction and will decrease as you begin to heal and transition into maintaining your health. Chiropractic care used for maintenance is similar to the idea of a consistent stretching protocol. They will both benefit your health and will help you move better by relieving tension and pressure throughout the body. The chiropractic adjustment is particularly effective at releasing pressure that has built up in the joints. Over time the body builds tension. By regularly taking care of your body you can reduce the chance of future injury and help you achieve your goals.
Massage Therapy First Visit
Assessment
Your first visit with the Massage Therapist will begin with an interview, review of your health history and the reason you are seeking massage therapy. The Massage Therapist may take you through a series of special tests such as range of motion and muscle testing to assess for muscle and joint limitations or restrictions. This will allow your therapist a better understanding of the issue and provide you both with a starting point to track your progress.
Explanation and Treatment
After your assessment, your therapist will explain how Massage Therapy can help you and what type of treatment techniques may be beneficial. Together with your Massage Therapist, you will talk about treatment goals, expectations and devise a plan to help achieve these goals. You will have the opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns you may have, so that you have a complete understanding of the treatment and feel comfortable moving forward with your therapist.
Your Massage Therapist will designate a few moments at the end of your massage treatment to reassess your mobility, level of pain and how you feel overall. Home care recommendations such as exercises, stretching and the use of ice/heat may be given to you by your Massage Therapist. These recommendations may help you get relief in between your treatments as well as help aid in your recovery.
Ongoing Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy visits may be more frequent when addressing an acute injury or dysfunction. These visits will decrease as your body begins to heal and repair itself. Over time, the body builds muscle tension from stress, activity and everyday life. Ongoing massage therapy is recommended to keep your body feeling and functioning at its best. By maintaining muscle health with regular Massage Therapy treatments, your risk of future injuries will decrease to keep you performing at your peak.
